# Route 53 Domains

## Resource Type

`AWS.Route53Domains`

## Resource ID Format

The resource ID of Route 53 Domain resources is constructed like the below:

`[AccountId]::AWS.Route53Domains/[domain]`

Example:

`123456789012::AWS.Route53Domains/example.com`

This construction allows you to do the following:

* Differentiate between Route 53 Domain resources across all AWS accounts you have linked, by checking the characters before the first colon.
* Differentiate between Domain resources within an account, by checking the characters after the `/`.

## Background

Amazon Route 53 is a highly available and scalable DNS (Domain Name Service) web service. Route 53 connects user requests to internet applications running on AWS or on-premises.
